What is a Burner?

A burner is a device used to initiate and sustain a combustion process. Principle of Burner

The principle of a burner involves the combination of fuel and oxidizer in the correct ratio to achieve efficient combustion. The fuel, which can be in the form of gas, liquid, or solid (though solid - fuel burners have different characteristics), is delivered to the burner through a fuel supply system. The oxidizer, usually air, is introduced either through natural draft (by the chimney effect) or forced draft (using a blower or fan). The fuel and air are mixed thoroughly in a mixing chamber or burner head. Once the mixture is within the flammable range, an ignition source such as a spark or a pilot flame is used to initiate combustion. The heat generated from the combustion process is then transferred to the desired medium, such as a heat exchanger in a boiler or a cooking pot on a stove.
