What is Slag Raking Machine

A slag raking machine is a device primarily used in metal smelting industries such as steel plants and aluminum smelters. It is designed to rake the slag layer from the surface of molten metal in containers like iron and steel ladles and aluminum holding furnaces, thereby reducing the metallurgical load.

History of Slag Raking Machine

With the development and expansion of the metal smelting industry, the need for efficient slag removal became crucial. Initially, slag removal was often a manual and labor-intensive process. As technology advanced, the slag raking machine gradually emerged and evolved. Early versions were relatively simple in structure and function, but over time, continuous innovation and technological progress have led to the development of modern slag raking machines, which are more automated, efficient, and reliable, capable of better meeting the requirements of the production process.

Purpose of Slag Raking Machine

The main purpose of the slag raking machine is to separate and remove the slag generated during the metal smelting process from the molten metal. By doing so, it helps improve the quality of the metal product by reducing the content of impurities. This, in turn, enhances the purity and performance of the metal, reduces the burden on subsequent processing procedures, increases production efficiency, and cuts down production costs.

Principle of Slag Raking Machine

Most slag raking machines operate hydraulically. They use a rake-like device to dig into the slag layer on the surface of the molten metal. The design incorporates horizontal rake movement and a large bearing base for slew movement, allowing the rake arm to move forward and backward, rotate left and right, and move vertically. By precisely controlling these movements, the slag can be effectively removed from the ladle.
